Yelle: The best thing to come out of France since, erm...Phoenix?

Yelle feeling energetic
Yelle is a French electro band consisting of Yelle (Julie Budet), GrandMarnier (Jean-François Perrier) and Tepr (Tanguy Destable). They're another one of those MySpace phenomena, their first single reaching 2000 plays on its first day of posting.

A number of Yelle's songs and remixes have featured on the well-regarded Kitsuné Maison compilation albums. This ranks them alongside acts such as Friendly Fires and Digitalism. However, Yelle's style is clearly unique- whilst sounding very French, they seem to have the creativity to hit the mainstream, something which I expect to happen any moment now.

Yelle may be young and pretty but she is also a very explosive character entering a slightly rigid French pop scene.

Yelle are fully driving the new non-aggressive girl power scene, despite their refreshingly laidback attitude.
Their new single 'Safari Disco Club' is new in 2011 and well worth a look.
